[Also in Division C7F] In a fuel cell of the hydrogen-oxygen type, the hydrogen electrode is made from nickel granules partially covered with Ag, and the oxygen electrode from Ni granules wholly covered with Ag, by the following method: the finely divided Ni is placed in distilled water and then there is added a separately prepared solution of a silver salt and a quantity of ammonia. A working graph may be established in advance relating the quantity of Ag deposited to the quantity of Ni<SP>++</SP> in solution at any given time in order that the time required to coat the Ni to any given extent may be determined. |
