<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an industrially useful cyclic polyarylene sulfide economically, in a short time and in a good efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A method for producing the cyclic polyarylene sulfide is characterized by heating a reaction mixture containing at least (a) a linear polyarylene sulfide, (b) a sulfiding agent, (c) an organic polar solvent and (d) <0.9 mol dihalogenated aromatic compound per 1 mol sulfur component of the sulfiding agent (b) to perform a reaction (A), and then adding the dihalogenated aromatic compound (d) so that the total amount of the dihalogenated aromatic compound including the dihalogenated aromatic compound used in the reaction (A) becomes 0.9 to 2.0 mol per 1 mol sulfur component of the sulfiding agent (b) used in the reaction (A) and heating in ≥1.25 L organic polar solvent based on 1 mol sulfur component in the reaction mixture to perform the reaction (B). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
