<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the number of hot spots caused by discrete power dissipation methods. <P>SOLUTION: A voltage source (86) coupled to a control unit (84) is configured to supply a voltage to a plurality of voltage-actuated switches (88, 90, 92, 94, 96) configured to selectively activate a plurality of magnetic resonance (MR) coil element (74, 76, 78, 80, 82). A plurality of transmission lines (98, 100, 102, 104, 106) provide an actuation signal from the voltage source to the plurality of voltage-actuated switches (88, 90, 92, 94, 96). The plurality of transmission lines (98, 100, 102, 104, 106) are free of discrete resistive elements and have a substantially uniform resistivity such that an interaction between the plurality of transmission lines (98, 100, 102, 104, 106) and the plurality of MR coil (74, 76, 78, 80, 82) elements is minimized and thermal dissipation is distributed over a length of each of the plurality of transmission lines (98, 100, 102, 104, 106). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
