<p>Disclosed is an exhaust gas purification filter. Said filter minimizes increases in pressure losses, and when the filter is regenerated after particulates have become deposited on the partitions thereof, runaway initial combustion is inhibited, thereby preventing the exhaust gas purification filter from sharply increasing in temperature and failing. Also, the combustion time period of particulates deposited on the partitions of the filter is reduced, thereby increasing the quantity of particulates collected and lengthening the intervals in the combustion cycle. Furthermore, for a single combustion time period, the amount of fuel needed to increase and maintain the temperature of the exhaust gas is decreased, resulting in improved fuel efficiency. The disclosed exhaust gas purification filter is provided with a filter base (11) comprising a porous body. Porous membranes (13) containing silicon carbide are provided on the surfaces of porous partitions (14) in the disclosed filter, and the distribution of pore diameters in the porous membranes (13) is as follows: pores having diameters between 0.01 µm and 3.0 µm constitute at least 70% of the total pore volume, and pores having diameters between 0.01 µm and 0.3 µm constitute between 5% and 90% of the total pore volume.</p> |
