MODIFIED TYPE FORMALDEHYDE DEHYDROGENASE AND UTILIZATION THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formaldehyde dehydrogenase having excellent thermostability even under high-temperature conditions.

SOLUTION: The modified type formaldehyde dehydrogenase is obtained by modification according to deletion, substitution, addition or insertion of an amino acid in at least one position in an amino acid sequence of a wild type formaldehyde dehydrogenase. The modification occurs in the seventieth to the 150th positions in the amino acid sequence of the wild type formaldehyde dehydrogenase, and the stability is improved as compared with that of the wild type formaldehyde dehydrogenase.
