<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element that is miniaturized with high power. <P>SOLUTION: In the light emitting element 100, an edge 170 at a first face 105 side of a first gain region 160 and an edge 174 at a first face 105 side of a third gain region 164 are overlapped on an overlapping face 180 provided at the first face 105. An edge 173 at a second face 107 side of a second gain region 162 and an edge 175 at a second face 107 side of a third gain region 164 are overlapped on an overlapping face 182 provided at the second face 107. In the overlapping face 180 at the first face 105 side and the overlapping face 182 at the second face 107 side, light generated in two or more gain regions 160, 162, and 164 is reflected.
