PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic atomizer capable of preventing the production of air discharge or ozone in large quantities at a low cost without performing feedback control. SOLUTION: The pulse signal PS formed in an oscillation circuit 8 is outputted to a power MOSFET 6 to intermittently pass a current through a transformer 5 and the water supplied to a discharge electrode 3 is electrostatically atomized by applying the output voltage Vo outputted from the secondary winding 5b of the transformer 5 across the discharge electrode 3 and a ground electrode 4 to be converted to charged fine water particles. The oscillation circuit 8 sets the oscillation frequency of the pulse signal PS so that the drooping characteristics of the transformer 5 become ones wherein the output voltage Vo is at least air discharge voltage or below and becoms the power of a specified quantity ozone production curve or below in order not only not to cause air discharge but also to prevent the production amount of ozone from becoming a specified amount or above. By this constitution, the air discharge affected by the occasionally varied amount of the water on the discharge electrode 3 to generate or the production of ozone in large quantities is prevented.
