The breaker has a drive element (6) firmly arranged at handles. A set of contact pieces leads force exerted on the handles for separation of the contact pieces proportionately into a contact arm. The force introduced into the blocked contact arm is introduced over an arranged system element from the handles into an upper elbow lever (8), so that the handles are tilted with the blocked contact arm up to the system element. A defined intermediate position is formed at the system element before an off position, so that the handles indicate that the breaker is not switched off.
