The method involves attaching a laser scanner (11) at a mounting unit (15) i.e. vehicle. Scanning levels (17) are aligned to ground (13). The scanner implements pre-set operating application (19). Additional functional verification (21) of the scanner is implemented, simultaneously with the application. The ground is used as reference, during verification. A determination is made whether ground signals that are produced from the levels fulfill a condition that is expected for an uninterrupted condition. A safety measure is initiated, when the signals do not fulfill the condition. |
