PURPOSE: An organic electroluminescent display device and a driving method thereof are provided to operate in a compensation mode when the same image is consecutively inputted during a threshold period of time, thereby reducing lowering of picture quality. CONSTITUTION: A gate line and a data line cross each other. A pixel comprises a switching transistor, a driving transistor, an organic light emitting diode and a detection transistor. A driving mode selecting unit(300) selects one of the driving mode, the normal mode, or the compensation mode of the same organic electroluminescent display device. A scan driving unit(320) shortens time for detecting a threshold voltage in the compensation mode compared to the normal mode. A data driving unit(330) outputs a data voltage in a compensation mode to a data line. |
