A stationary open trough 1 of arc-shaped cross-section has a plurality (Fig. 3) of U- shaped guide rails 6 in each of which runs a rotary ring 5 having a plurality of internal projections 11 and an external groove (23, Fig. 4) taking a flexible belt 7 driven by a common shaft 13. Additional support for each ring is provided by two rolls 9 and 10 each having an annular flange (20, Fig. 5) extending into groove and a pair of side rolls 8 each having a lower annular flange (18, Fig. 4). The trough has a removable coarse filter 17 and a liquid drain valve (16, Fig. 3). As shown, treated material is removed via apertures, at one side of the trough between adjacent rings, and a side compartment having a tangential wall 2 and hinged cover 3. Alternatively, a fixed or movable board or a conveyor may be situated within the rings above the liquid (19, Fig. 2). Each ring is an extruded hollow strip of plastic having a steel insert which has been bent to shape and welded. The trough may have hollow walls for a heating or cooling medium or may be electrically heated.</p> |
