<p>A hand-held vacuum cleaner 10 comprises a suction conduit 14 having a longitudinal axis Y-Y and an elongate handle 28 having a longitudinal axis X-X the two being transverse. An airflow generator 36 is at ones side of the handle while a power source 32 is at the other, and a cyclonic separator 18 attached downstream of the suction conduit. Ideally the angle between the axes is close to a right angle. Preferably the inlet 16 of the suction conduit is distant from the handle and has the longitudinal axis of the suction conduit passing through it. There may be a trigger switch 30 to actuate the airflow generator, which is on the suction conduit side of the handle and is biased 50 to the off position. The position of the handle is analogous to that of a standard battery powered drill.</p> |
