PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for warning the speed of a forklift are provided to prevent accidents due to the overspeed of a forklift by warning a driver when the speed of the forklift is too fast. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for warning the speed of a forklift comprises a speed sensing unit(20), a controller(10), and an alarm driving unit(30). The speed sensing unit measures the speed of the forklift through a speed sensor(21) installed in a forklift truck(F). The speed sensing unit comprises a wheel speed sensor or a hall sensor. The controller determines whether the speed of the forklift exceeds limit speed. If the speed of the forklift exceeds the limit speed, the controller operates the alarm driving unit. The alarm driving unit drives an alarm(40) equipped in the forklift.
