PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to decrease the probability of the occurrence of a system error and to reduce the load of a system by effectively blocking an image signal having an abnormal frequency. CONSTITUTION: A signal generating unit(101) generates a square wave signal corresponding to a dot clock of an image signal. A signal processing unit(103) blocks the image signal if a measured frequency of the square wave signal exceeds a preset frequency or is not maintained for a preset time. In addition, the signal processing unit outputs the image signal if the measured frequency is below the preset frequency or is maintained for the preset time.
