<p>Partial combustion of gas/vapour mixtures for acetylene manufacture. Use is to control the course of combustion and obtain optimal yield of cracker gas. Gas and vapour, previously mixed, pref. for partial oxidation of hydrocarbons, are ignited on entry into the combustion chamber and exposed, in a certain cross-sectional plane, to the heat of as uniform as possible a flame front. In the gas/vapour stream, upstream of the flame front, is a fluidised bed of incombustible solid.</p> |
