Producing a component made of a thermoplastic molding material containing at least one layered silicate, comprises (a) adding the thermoplastic molding material and the layered silicate, and optionally further additives in a screw injection machine, where the screw injection machine comprises at least a screw for the production of pre-product, (b) melting and homogenizing the thermoplastic molding material in a second screw injection machine with at least a screw, and (c) molding the thermoplastic molding material to a component. Producing a component made of a thermoplastic molding material containing at least one layered silicate, where the component contains at least an outer layer in which the layered silicate is present in the form of lamella, and a core in which the layered silicate is disorganized or present in the form of clusters, comprises (a) adding the thermoplastic molding material and the layered silicate, and optionally further additives in a screw injection machine, where the screw injection machine comprises at least a screw, whose ratio of screw outer diameter to screw core diameter in the retraction zone is 1.2-1.6, for the production of pre-product, (b) melting and homogenizing the thermoplastic molding material in a second screw injection machine with at least a screw, where the ratio of channel depth to screw diameter in a metering zone of the screw is 0.03-0.065, and (c) molding the thermoplastic molding material to a component.
