Electronic purse

An electronic purse comprises a memory device for storing a level of funds in the purse and a processor. A bistable funds level indicator is provided for indicating whether the funds stored are above or below a threshold. The invention thus enables an electronic purse to provide an indication of the funds level stored (in particular a warning that funds are low).
