PURPOSE: An ice maker and a control method thereof are provided to prevent an opaque layer from becoming formed on the central part of ice by raising the temperature of water at the initial stage of making ice. CONSTITUTION: An ice maker(100) comprises a water receiving member(200), an ice making unit, a heating unit, and a control unit. The ice making unit cools the water in the water receiving member to make ice. The ice making unit comprises an evaporator. The evaporator comprises a dipping pipe, which is dipped in the water in the water receiving member. The heating unit heats the water in the water receiving member. The control unit controls the operation of the heating unit to heat the water before the ice making unit cools the water. The control unit supplies low-temperature refrigerant to the evaporator to make ice around the dipping pipe. |
