PURPOSE: A solid state storage system for controlling of reserved area flexibly and a method of controlling the same are provided to easily select a reserved area without an additional management map by selecting a replacement block in a reserved area using a point. CONSTITUTION: In a solid state storage system for controlling of reserved area flexibly and a method of controlling the same, a flash memory area comprises a plurality of memory blocks. The flash memory area comprises a replacement block for a defect block. A memory controller performs physical address mapping to a logical block including the block for the replacement block. The memory controller selects the replacement blocks by using the logical address of the logical blocks.
