1,165,937. Inverting. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 19 Oct., 1967 [24 Oct., 1966], No. 47682/67. Heading H2F. In a static inverter circuit having a pair of series connected controlled power thyristors 3, 4 and a pair of uncontrolled diodes 5, 6 connected in a further series circuit, two controlled commutating thyristors 7, 8 are connected in parallel with the power thyristors and a quenching capacitor 9 is connected between the junction of the commutating thyristors 7, 8 and the junction of the power thyristors 3, 4 which is also connected via a quenching choke 10 to the point between the diodes 5, 6, one end of the choke 10 being connected to an alternating current circuit. Resistor 11 facilitates starting, when power thyristor 3 is fired first, so that capacitor 9 charges to the potential shown. Then the thyristor 3 is quenched by firing the commutating thyristor 7 and a certain time delay may be allowed before the next thyristor 4 is fired. Three similar bridge inverters are connected to supply a three-phase load P1, P2, P3. A single-phase bridge inverter circuit may be provided having an additional choke (10a) connected in series with the quenching capacitor 9 (Fig. 3, not shown) so as to avoid undesirable voltage increase at the power thyristors. In a further single-phase bridge circuit (Fig. 1, not shown), corresponding to one phase of the circuit shown, the A.C. output A is taken from between the diodes 5, 6. |
