PURPOSE: A swash plate type compressor of a variable capacity type is provided to improve the performance of an air conditioning unit by the efficient reduction of noise and pulsation. CONSTITUTION: A swash plate type compressor of a variable capacity type comprises a cylinder block(110), a front housing(120), a rear housing(130), a discharge manifold(170), and a check valve(180). A plurality of cylinder bores are formed on the cylinder block. The front housing is coupled to the cylinder block to form a crank chamber. The rear housing is coupled to the cylinder block to forma a suction chamber and a discharge chamber. The discharge manifold is connected to a muffler(172) through a connecting path(176) and forms a refrigerant discharge path(S). The refrigerant from the discharge chamber is transferred to the muffler. A discharge port(179), which is communicated with the refrigerant discharge path, is formed on the discharge manifold.
