PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a motor brake are provided to prevent overload on a motor brake and a drive motor by securing sufficient time for mechanical opening/closing of the motor brake. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling a motor brake comprises a motor brake(20) and a power supply control part(30). The motor brake stops or activates a drive motor(10) of a crane(1). The power supply control part provides or cuts off power to the motor brake according to a control signal in order to open or close the motor brake. The power supply to the motor brake is cut off after the set time from the application of a control signal. |
