APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SETTING MIRRORS OF MOTOR VEHICLE

PURPOSE: An automatic mirror setting apparatus and method for a vehicle are provided to recognize the height and position of driver's eyes in real time and automatically set the reflection angles of room and outside mirrors. CONSTITUTION: An automatic mirror setting apparatus for a vehicle comprises a driver position recognizing device(1), first to third actuators(4,6,8), and a controller(2). The driver position recognizing device recognizes the vertical and horizontal positions of driver's eyes and the distance between the driver's eyes and the front side of a driver's seat. The first to third actuators a room mirror(3) and left and right outside mirrors(5,7) respectively and vary the reflection angles of the mirror. The controller receives data from the driver position recognizing device and decides the position of driver's eyes and controls the driving of the first to third actuators to set the optimum reflection angles of the mirrors for the sake of the driver's eyes.
