PURPOSE: A method of interpolating a frame through a complementary motion estimation algorithm is provided to increase the accuracy of a motion vector and reduce the reduce in frame interpolation by combining the complementary forward and backward motion estimation results. CONSTITUTION: A partition within a current frame corresponding to a partition within a neighbor frame is selected. Based on the location information of the partitions of the current and neighbor frames, a forward motion vector is obtained(S100). The partition within the neighbor frame corresponding to the partition within the current frame is selected. Based on the location information of the partitions, a backward motion vector is obtained(S110). The partition of the current frame indicated by the forward motion vector is used to generate a first frame. A second frame is generated by using the partition of the neighbor frame indicated by the backward motion vector. A pair of motion vectors indicating the identical location of the first and second frames are obtained. Frame interpolation is performed by using one of the motion vectors(S140). |
