Epox moulding compositions based on triglycidyl-isocyanurate (I)/carboxylic acid anhydride (II) prepolymers, curing agents and other additives. The impure (I) may be made by reacting cyanuric acid with epichlorhydrin, and is pref. purified by recrystallisation (e.g. from MeOH) until the epoxy oxygen content is at least 14%. Suitable anhydrides (II) are hexa- or tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, phthalic anhydride, methylcyclohexanedicarboxylic acid anhydride, dodecylsuccinic anhydride, etc., used in an amt. equivalent to 0.6-1.2 (esp. 0.8-0.9) anhydride grps. per epoxy grp. The product may be compression or injection moulded at 130-200 deg. C. using a pressure of 30-400 kg/cm2 for 1-10 mins. |
