<p>A video plane generation unit decodes stream data to generate pairs of video planes for the left eye and right eye, outputting the pairs of video planes alternately in a three-dimensional display mode and repeatedly outputting one of the pairs of video planes in a quasi-two-dimensional display mode. An image plane generation unit generates, in a manner tailored to the depth at which an OSD should be perceived, pairs of image planes for the left eye and right eye which have different display positions in the horizontal direction of the OSD, and alternately outputs the pairs of image planes. A quasi-two-dimensional display control unit instructs the video plane generation unit to use the three-dimensional display mode when the pairs of image planes are not being output from the image plane generation unit and to use the quasi-two-dimensional display mode when the pairs of image planes are being output. An addition unit combines video planes from the video plane generation unit and image planes from the image plane generation unit one by one into a single frame and outputs the frame.</p> |
