PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device which can early detect a breakage on a flexible substrate having a multilayer structure for electric connection between casings and reporting it to a user.

SOLUTION: In the flexible substrate 200 connecting the first casing 100 to the second casing 300, a signal line distributed in the position closest to the flexible substrate 200 of signal lines distributed thereon is used as a detecting signal line 202 for detecting a crack or the like on the flexible substrate 200.
