<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system that can change a function or security of an image forming unit in correspondence with the installation place thereof automatically or by the reduced number of working steps. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming system 5, a control portion 10 acquires a location wherein a processing portion 20 is installed from a position information acquisition portion 35 and identifies an area including the installed place by referring to an area information table 9. Then, the control portion 10 transmits to a processing portion 20 the setting of function restriction and the operational setting of security function related to the area that are acquired from the area information table 9, and allows the processing portion 20 to receive the settings.
