PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which permits images to be printed on seal paper and the seal paper to be easily turned into a brochure-like form without performing pasting work and the like, and printing paper. SOLUTION: In the printing paper 2, a first row 13a of holes and a second row 13b of holes in which a plurality of holes 13 are arranged continuously at an equal interval in the direction parallel with the centerline of the paper 2 are formed at prescribed distances from both ends of the paper 2. The printer 1 has a thermal head 6, a transfer roller 4, a cutter 11 cutting the printing paper 2 at prescribed positions, and a hole sensing sensor 12 for detecting the holes 13. The hole sensing sensor 12 detects the position of the holes 13 with prescribed timing before printing is performed. The transfer roller 4 transfers the printing paper 2 by a prescribed quantity in accordance with the result of detection of the hole sensing sensor 12. After transfer, the cutter 11 makes the positional relationship between the holes 13 and the front end of the printing paper 2 a prescribed quantity by cutting the printing paper 2.
