PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner which maintains excellent developability even after being subjected to a heat cycle in a high temperature and high humidity environment, and prevents fading due to fusion of a sleeve or degradation in fluidity. SOLUTION: The toner includes toner particles containing a binder resin, a colorant and wax, and hydrophobic inorganic fine particles. The toner particles are obtained by granulating a mixture solution in an aqueous medium, the mixture solution prepared by dissolving a binder resin essentially comprising a polyester resin, a colorant and wax in an organic solvent, and then removing the organic solvent. The hydrophobic inorganic particles are surface-treated with a silicone oil (A) and then surface-treated with a silane compound and/or a silazane compound. In a wettability test on the toner with respect to a methanol/water mixture solvent, when the toner shows 50% of transmittance to light at a wavelength of 780 nm, the methanol concentration is not less than 40 vol%.
