PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric apparatus capable of reducing power consumption for cooling, and a method of controlling the rotation number of a cooling fan. SOLUTION: This electric apparatus includes: a cooling fan unit mounting part 5 for detachably mounting a plurality of cooling fan units 4 each including a cooling fan 2 and a control IC 3 for controlling the rotation number of the cooling fan 2; a memory 6 for storing the rotation number of each cooling fan 2 in response to the number of normally-operating cooling fan units 4; and a control part 7 (19) for detecting the number of normally-operating cooling fan units 4 out of the cooling fan units 4 mounted to the cooling fan unit mounting part 5, and reading the rotation number from the memory 6 to instruct the rotation number to each cooling fan unit 4 based on the detected number of normally-operating cooling fan units 4.
