METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PROVIDING MULTICAST SERVICE IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method for providing multicast service in a communication system and a device for implementing the present method are provided. The communication system includes at least one user equipment and a server for providing service to at least one user equipment. The method includes the steps that: a server determines the Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) multicast group providing multicast service; the server sends to a BM-SC in the e-MBMS network the MBMS service control information which is required when the MBMS service is provided to the user equipment in the MBMS multicast group; according to the received MBMS service control information, the BM-SC determines the MBMS service area, and triggers the MBMS bearer establishment process in the MBMS service area,for the user equipment in the MBMS multicast group; the server forwards the data providing service to the BM-SC; and the BM-SC distributes the data to each user equipment in the MBMS multicast group via the established MBMS bearer. By using the method of the invention, the multicast can be performed in the MBMS multicast group even if the wireless network cannot support the multicast.
