Deformation of an instrument panel can be reduced even if loads inflicted on the driver's side and on the passenger side are different. A bracing member (26) is provided at the passenger side of the instrument reinforcement (14) connecting between a cowling inner panel (20) and a smaller diameter portion (14B) of the instrument reinforcement (14) in the front-rear direction of the vehicle. The bracing member (26) at the passenger side includes a front bracket (28) and a rear bracket (30) releasably connected together by means of a bolt (40). The arrangement allows the rear bracket (30) to be released if the smaller diameter portion (14B) is pulled by a load inflicted in case of an offset collision at the driver side.
