<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction in the recognition rate of a finger vein authentication apparatus, at low cost, due to misinsertion of a finger of a user who is not familiar with the apparatus, or misinsertion of a forged finger of an ill-intentioned user. <P>SOLUTION: A personal authentication apparatus includes an imaging unit for capturing a finger vein image, a light source for emitting a light which passes through a finger, an image arithmetic unit for collating the image, a guide unit for indicating the imaging position of the finger and a detection unit for detecting contacting of the finger with the guide unit. Furthermore, the apparatus includes a light source for making reflected light irradiate with which a side of the finger cushion is irradiated; a switching unit which is pressed-in with a tip portion of the finger; a light source for light transmitted through the tip portion of the finger; and a light-receiving element for receiving the light transmitted through the tip portion of the finger. Moreover, the apparatus comprises a display means for indicating information for guidance to proper use of the apparatus. The apparatus further includes a means for switching 1-N authentication for performing collation with all registered images as a target and 1-1 authentication for inputting an ID number identifying a user himself/herself beforehand and performing collation only with a registered image corresponding to the ID number as a target, in accordance with authentication stability, and a means for updating registered data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
