<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that prevents the degradation of efficiency of incident light emitted from a light source to a light incident surface of a light guide, even if expansion and contraction such as thermal contraction are caused in the light guide. <P>SOLUTION: A holding member 7 is formed so as to hold a region between a light incident part 8a and an emission part 8b of a light guide 8 from both surfaces of the light guide 8. First irregularities are formed on both surfaces of the region of the light guide 8, which is held by the holding member 7. Second irregularities are formed on a surface facing the light guide 8 in a region of the holding member 7 holding the light guide 8.
