摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous carbon electrode base material wherein formation of through-holes is restrained, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the porous carbon electrode base material has a process (a) of attaining carbon fiber paper from carbon short fibers; a process (b) of attaining resin impregnated paper by impregnating a thermosetting resin into the carbon fiber paper; a process (c) of attaining a resin cured sheet by molding the resin impregnated paper at hot press; and a process (d) of calcining the resin cured sheet by making the resin cured sheet travel in a baking furnace under an inert atmosphere. The porous carbon electrode base material is manufactured with the method wherein a ratio of width of the resin cured sheet (sheet width ratio) against the width of the baking furnace is 90% or below. The attained porous carbon electrode base material is a sheet-like porous carbon electrode base material, and the number of through-holes having long diameters of 1 mm or more is 0.2 pieces per a square meter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
