PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing stress on a surface, and a method of testing the surface with the apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes one or more service assemblies, and one or more cleaning assemblies; wherein (a) the service assembly includes one or more means for applying dirt to the surface, one or more means for scuffing the surface, or one or more means for dragging a test material across the surface, or a combination thereof; and (b) the cleaning assembly includes one or more scrubbers, or one or more burnishers, or a combination thereof.
