<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with high speed in a vertical buffer device by independently performing the carry-in/out of an article such as a PTP (Press Through Packaging) sheet laminate or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of buckets 13 are mounted to an endless belt 13 for carrying the PTP sheet laminate 3 while holding it. The buckets have a pair of upper and lower movable piece 25 and fixed piece 22, respectively. The movable piece 25 is movable up and down along a guide rod 24 in the bucket. A bucket width h as a space between both pieces 22, 25 is almost equal to a height h1 of the PTP sheet stack 3.
