The method involves using a radiation source for emitting radiation (8) to a yarn (2). The radiation reflected from the yarn is sensed by a sensor (6) of the reflected radiation in a common plane with scanning of absolute intersections of the yarn using a digital optical line sensor (1). The scanning of the absolute intersections of the yarn and the scanning of the reflected radiation is performed with mutual time synchronization. The line sensor is coupled with a generator (100) of control signals and a microprocessor (101). An independent claim is also included for a device for tracking color homogeneity, comprising a sensor.
