The present invention relates to an electric distribution protection cooperative system and an operating method thereof; and more specifically, to an electric distribution protection cooperative system that identifies the existence of a fault or a fault phase in a switch when a ground fault occurs in an un-grounded electric distributing line, eliminates the fault by using relevant information on the fault and transmits the relevant information on the fault to a central control unit so as to notify an operator about the occurrence of a fault, and an operating method thereof. The electric distribution protection cooperative system according to one embodiment of the present invention can comprise: a terminal unit, which identifies the occurrence of a fault or a fault phase by using a phase difference between image current and interphase voltage of the electric distributing line when a ground fault occurs in an un-grounded electric distributing line and then generates and transmits fault recognition information that contains the information on the occurrence of the fault and the fault phase; a switch for opening and closing the electric distributing line under the control of the terminal unit; and an electric distribution control unit, which receives the fault recognition information from the terminal unit and transmits, to at least one terminal unit, a control signal for operating the switch at the point of fault occurrence through the cooperation between at least one terminal unit to block a fault section.
