PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality monitoring system of a travel unit which can detect abnormalities in a travel unit installed in a vehicle in real time and with high precision. SOLUTION: The abnormality monitoring system includes: a hub 3 attached to the periphery at both ends of an axle 2 through a bearing 4; an AE sensor 12 which is installed in the vehicle having the travel unit 1 including a hubcap 6 fastened to the periphery of the hub 3 through a fastening part 7, is arranged on the periphery of the hub 3, and detects an AE wave generating in the travel unit 1; and a determination unit which sets a sample line from a moving average value and a standard deviation calculated from a predetermined extracted width in an output signal from the AE sensor 12, determines whether or not an AE wave having an output signal of a predetermined threshold or more has been detected by the number of times the output signal has matched the value of the sample line, and on the basis of the result, determines the presence or absence of the occurrence of an abnormality in the travel unit 1.
