PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens driving apparatus which can be made to be compact by reducing external dimensions of a base. SOLUTION: The lens driving apparatus includes: a substantially cylindrical yoke 3; a base 5 to which the yoke 3 is attached; a carrier 7 having a lens; a coil 10; and a magnet 13. The base 5 is substantially square-shaped in a planar view. The yoke 3 is placed at an inner position of the base 5. An outer peripheral wall 3a and the edge 4a of an opening 4 are disposed with a space therebetween. The space between the outer peripheral wall 3a and the edge 4a of the opening 4 positioned on the top side, bottom side and both sides provided between a plurality of circular-arc-shaped wall parts 3d and 3d is made to be narrower than the space between the outer peripheral wall 3a and the edge 4a of the opening 4 positioned at the corner portion of the base 5, and a circular-arc-shaped inner side wall 3g in a planar view is provided on the edge of the opening opposite to the magnet 13.
