PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output light having any spectral-distribution characteristics. SOLUTION: A tunable filter 100 includes a birefringence crystal polarization beam splitter 103 acquired by combining at least two birefringence crystals as the polarization beam splitter. Output luminous flux is polarized and branched into a plurality of luminous fluxes through the use of the birefringence crystal polarization beam splitter 103 to output one luminous flux.
