<p>Provided are a method and an apparatus for removing methane with which, when methane is removed from a gas containing such a low concentration of methane that the gas is not within the flammable range regardless of the ratio to which air has been mixed therewith, sufficient methane removal performance is ensured even in the presence of sulfur compounds, there is no reduction in performance even when the methane concentration fluctuates considerably, and long-term stable removal performance is obtained. Gas is preheated through a heat exchanger, then passed through an oxidation catalyst for catalytic oxidation of methane, and once again passed through a heat exchanger for the heat to be recovered by heat exchange with unreacted gas, while the flow rate of the gas to be treated is varied in accordance with the methane concentration of the gas to be treated.</p> |
