Disclosed is a dimming device for performing dimming for an AC lighting apparatus using AC power, wherein the dimming device comprises: a switching unit configured to be switched in accordance with a switching control signal and to relay the AC power to the AC lighting apparatus, activating an AC chopper; a current detection unit for detecting current flowing through the AC lighting apparatus and outputting a current detection signal; and a control unit for outputting a dimming control signal from an external device to control the dimming of the AC lighting apparatus, and for outputting the switching control signal in accordance with the current detection signal.
