PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve color resolution and reduce false color when adopting a color arrangement pattern of a color filter having a low space sampling frequency of the color to be a main component of a chroma signal. SOLUTION: When adopting a color arrangement pattern of OCCF having a low space sampling frequency of the color to be a main component of a C-signal, a G-signal G1' that makes the absolute value of a color difference signal minimum is generated in a G-interpolation circuit 33 for C-signal interpolation and a color difference signal is generated in a color difference signal generation circuit 34 using the G-signal G1'. False color is reduced, which is generated owing to the low sampling frequency in obtaining of the color difference signal. By interpolating the color difference signal using a G-signal level in a G-level interpolation circuit 38, signal transition of frequency band, which is weak for the color difference signal, is made to follow the level of G that can capture high frequencies, resulting in improvement of color resolution.
