A cell (100) of a SOFC comprises a fuel-side electrode (110), an electrolyte (120) laminated on the fuel-side electrode (110), and an oxygen-side electrode (130) laminated on the electrolyte (120). The fuel-side electrode (110) comprises NiO and/or Ni and YSZ. The content ratio of Ni and/or NiO relative to the total volume of the cell is 35 to 55 vol% in terms of Ni content, and the content ratio of YSZ relative to the total volume of the cell is 45 to 65 vol%. The ratio of the average particle diameter (R1) of Ni and/or NiO to the average particle diameter (R2) of YSZ (i.e., R2/R1) is 0.5 or more. The reduction treatment to be applied to the fuel-side electrode (110) after burning is carried out by supplying a reducing gas containing a reducing agent (hydrogen) at a concentration of 4 to 100 vol% at a temperature as high as 800°C.
