Apparatus (10) for controlling flow of fluid through a pipe, comprising: a housing (40) configured to enclose a portion of a pipe through which fluid flow is to be controlled, the housing (40) comprising: a first part (42) defining a chamber (48) configured to receive the portion of the pipe; and a second part (70) extending from the first part (42), the second part (70) defining a stowage space (72) adjacent the chamber (48); a flow control device (100) moveable from a stowed position in the stowage space (72) to an installed position in the chamber (48) for selectively controlling flow through the housing (40), the flow control device (100) comprising a body (102) having a leading end (104) defining a cutting surface (110) for removing a section of the pipe enclosed by the housing (40) as the flow control device (100) moves from the stowed position to the installed position in order to form an opening in the pipe for receiving the flow control device (100) when in the installed position; and a rotary drive mechanism (150) for moving the flow control device (100) from the stowed position to the installed position in response to a rotary input.
