PURPOSE: A communication device and a method thereof for reducing power consumption are provided to steadily reduce power consumption by the operation saving mode of a device. CONSTITUTION: A routing processing unit(110) exchanges a neighboring power-saving type communication unit(200) and routing information. According to an analysis result of a power saving target information, a transmission processing unit(120) determines an operation mode. A power saving mode notification processing unit(130) transmits the power saving target information to a power saving mode control unit(140). The power saving mode control unit controls the usage of power about a port and a line related to the neighboring power-saving type communication device which enters a power-saving mode.
