<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium image-forming-processed by an image forming apparatus in response to the action of a user to receive it. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes a sheet transportation mechanism part 76 that transport the recording medium in which an image is formed by an image forming part 20 along a sheet transportation route 71, carries out a part of the recording medium from the sheet transportation route 71, and suspends the transportation operation of the recording medium in the state where another part of the recording medium is held in the sheet transportation route 71. By suspending the transportation operation by the sheet transportation mechanism part 76, pulling-out operation by the user of the recording medium whose part is held in the sheet transportation route 71 is detected by a first sheet passage detection part 74.
